How to choose a tattoo?
1.
Avoid hasty decisions.
If you're getting a tattoo because you're drunk, high, rebellious, or because your friends are provoking you, then you're getting a tattoo for the wrong reasons and your decision probably reflects that lack of foresight.
2.
Think about where you want the tattoo.
This will have some influence on the design, especially if it's an intimate design. For all the body parts you show on a regular basis (and that's a lot of body if you're wearing a bikini or board shorts), there's not much room left for intimate tattoos that you don't want your grandmother to see.
3.
Take some time to refine the design and choose one that has meaning for you.
Do your research first. Go to the library or a reputable tattoo parlor and look at a tattoo design book.
4.
Do a test run for the tattoo.
Use henna to get a temporary version of the design. You won't be able to see different colors or specific looks, but you will be able to appreciate the feel of a tattoo. Henna lasts from a week to a month.
5.
Think before you apply ink.
Think about it a lot. If you are sure, wait a little longer to be sure. Ultimately, a well-chosen tattoo design can be a feast for the eyes and boost your self-confidence. A poorly chosen tattoo done on a whim can make you unhappy forever.
